A lesson from lockdown: start planning now [10th July 2020]

While debate around the coronavirus pandemic rages on, particularly around the impact on care homes, it does seem that things are now re-opening and we are beginning to cautiously explore a new normal. But there is also talk of a second phase, perhaps coinciding with the winter flu season, which could be even worse. During phase one, the vulnerability of many older people has been exposed and families have had to abandon loved ones, leaving them isolated and fearful. If we are potentially between two phases, we are encouraging families to use this time now to plan. There is a lot that can be done, from making a home safe and accessible, to exploring care and funding options as well as identifying potential care providers / local support groups or even care homes. So we urge families to reflect and learn the lessons from lockdown and prepare for the future to protect our loved ones as much as we can. We are happy to work through this process with you and remember we do not charge until we have agreed both the scope of work and the costs with you.
